Manchester United are showing interest in a surprise summer move for Al-Ahli striker Ivan Toney, according to Fichajes.

The Red Devils have reportedly identified the 29-year-old England international as a potential solution to their goalscoring woes and have already held initial contacts with Toney’s representatives.

Old Trafford chiefs are believed to be optimistic about completing the deal and have put forward an offer worth a reported €35m (£30m), as they hope to secure a low-cost striker option for Ruben Amorim.

Toney, who joined Al-Ahli from Brentford last summer, is under contract until June 2028 and earns around £415,000 per week in Saudi Arabia.

Man United remain focused on bringing in reinforcements to their attacking options this summer, as a new number 10 and striker remain their two main priorities.

The Red Devils have already welcomed Wolves star Matheus Cunha as their first arrival and continue working towards a deal for Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo, who has already given the green light to the move.

United are also hopeful of landing a new number nine and offloading multiple first-team stars to potentially boost their chances, with the likes of Rasmus Hojlund and Alejandro Garnacho available for departure.

While their top striker target Viktor Gyokeres is believed to be more inclined to join Arsenal, United are assessing other options, including Toney, who enjoyed a prolific season in Saudi Arabia.

The 29-year-old has been scoring goals for fun since departing Brentford almost 12 months ago, netting 30 times in 44 appearances for Al-Ahli, and finishing as the Saudi Pro League’s second top goalscorer last season, only behind Cristiano Ronaldo.
