(3-4-1-2): Onana and Dalot out of the squad, Bruno and Rashford benched- Man United’s predicted lineup against Man City as Ruben Amorim confirms atleast FIVE unserious players will be benched.
Manchester United and Manchester City in the Premier League is always a very entertaining derby that in recent seasons, has significantly gone in favor of the Blues. However, this year’s derby has a very different feel to it.
That isn’t necessarily because Man Utd have stepped up their game to match Man City’s level but it is because Pep Guardiola’s men seem to be unable to secure a victory to save their lives over the past couple of months.
With just one win in their past 10 games across all competitions, there is huge pressure on Manchester City. This also presents Ruben Amorim the glorious chance of getting one over their city rivals so early on during his career at Old Trafford.
With all this in mind, here is how we think Ruben Amorim can set Man Utd up in the 3-4-3 formation against Man City. The Portuguese tactician, in all likelihood, looks set to keep up with his rotational policy even despite the magnitude of the game.
Man Utd expected XI vs Man City
Andre Onana has had two back-to-back performances in the last couple of games that would have given him nightmares and he will be keen to make amends against Man City and Erling Haaland.
The back three in front of him could see Leny Yoro come in for Noussair Mazraoui, with Matthijs de Ligt and Lisandro Martinez retaining their places.
Amad Diallo could drop into a deeper role, starting as the right wing-back on the night with Diogo Dalot shifting over to the left side. Manuel Ugarte should come in for Casemiro in midfield and be accompanied by Kobbie Mainoo.
The front three in front of them could see Mason Mount line-up on the left, Bruno Fernandes on the right and brace-hero Rasmus Hojlund through the middle. This is a team that will help Man Utd control the game and let’s wait and see how it plays out.
