Ruben Amorim left Alejandro Garnacho out of Manchester United’s starting lineup in their 1-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League final on Wednesday.

The manager favoured Mason Mount ahead of the 20-year-old and when asked about his decision, in the post-match press conference, Amorim said Garnacho missing a big chance against Athletic in the semi-final.

The Argentina international replaced Mount in the second half and Olé report that he was not at all pleased. Their title speak about his ‘anger of playing 20 minutes’.

After yesterday’s tie, the Manchester United player spoke to the Argentine media and Olé have relayed his comments.

Prior to the final, he started regularly for Manchester United in the Europa League. The attacker is clearly disappointed with Amorim’s decision to leave him out of the playing XI.

“There were a lot of things missing; when you don’t score goals at the end, you always need a lot of things. Until we reached the final, I played every round, helping the team, but playing 20 minutes today… I don’t know…” he said.

The Red Devils endured a difficult season as they are 16th in the table and won’t play in Europe next season. The winger was asked about Manchester United’s season and their Europa League final defeat.

“It’s tough for everyone, after this season, which was truly awful. We lost this final, and we haven’t beaten anyone in the league. Very tough, we’re going to try to finish the season and see what happens next,” Garnacho explained.

The South American was linked with a move away from Manchester United in the winter market, but no deal took shape. He left the door open for an exit when asked about his future at Old Trafford.

“Obviously the game has an impact, but the season itself and the club’s situation… I’m going to try to enjoy the summer and see what happens next,” he added.
