He had also defeated this American player in straight sets in the final of the US Open this year. Sinner, who registered his second consecutive win in the tournament, said, ‘I like playing on home court. It helps a lot if you like your fans and those who support you.
Earlier, Daniil Medvedev kept himself in the race to reach the semi-finals by defeating Alex de Minaur 6-2, 6-4. De Minaur had lost his first match to Sinner in this tournament being played between the top eight players of the world.
