Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold (28) had two misses on the last standing – but still won at Sjusjøen.
Maren Hjelmeset Kirkeeide (21) was with all the way to the finish line – but had to lose out on a photo finish. Both got the same time.
Kirkeeide went first from the last shooting, with Tandrevold 3.6 seconds behind and Dorothea Wierer 15.4 seconds behind.
Tandrevold caught up with Kirkeeide, but was unable to outrun her.
– You are so impressive of Kirkeeide. It was a very exciting sprint, where Ingrid was the smartest, says Marte Olsbu Røiseland as an NRK expert.
– Maren ran a great race. I had to try to soften her as much as possible. She took the inside turn, and then I just had to take the track and do a slightly slippery manoeuvre, says Tandrevold to NRK.
In an interview with NRK’s Ida Nysæter Rasch og Røiseland, Tandrevold says that she thrives as a married woman:
– It is crucial for me to have that foundation in place. If it blows properly, not everything collapses – but only the top floor! continues Tandrevold about the marriage with Trygve Bendixen Markset and the biathlon season.
Maren Hjelmeset Kirkeeide had to draw the shortest straw in the sprint. She had only one bom, while Wierer had two and Tandrevold three.
– What we see from Ingrid is very good, says Røiseland.
– It seems that the physical level is where it should be in mid-November, says her colleague Jann Post directly.
– I feel that I am where I should be, says Tandrevold himself.
Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold won Saturday’s biathlon sprint at Sjusjøen 12.1 seconds ahead of Emilie Kalkenberg. Kalkenberg failed completely on Sunday with, among other things, a fire bom on the first standing. She was number 15.
Maren Hjelmeset Kirkeeide gets one of the three available spots for the World Cup opening in Finland in December. Emilie Ågheim Kalkenberg and Gro Njølstad Randby have also been selected, national team manager Per Arne Botnan confirms.
– I had to just reset after a bad run on Saturday. I started in the back row and tried to keep calm, says Hjelmeset Kirkeeide. The former cross-country world champion, Odd-Bjørn Hjelmeset, is her uncle.
Dorothea Wierer followed in 3rd place and Karoline Knotten in 4th place on Sunday.
