Their iconic forward Chicago Bulls, Bob Love“left” his last breath after a “battle” with cancer, as announced by his team NBA. He was 81 years old.
Love was first drafted in 4the round of the 1965 NBA Draft by the Cincinnati Royals and made his major league debut the following season. After two years with the team, he was briefly in Milwaukee before joining the Chicago Bulls during the 1968–69 season.
He immediately dominated thanks to his unique scoring ability, forming cornerstone of franchise during his nine seasons with the organization.
The ace from Louisiana averaged 21.3 points and 6.8 rebounds per game while making three appearances in All-Starwas a two-time top-five player and three-time top-five defensive player with the Bulls. Love led the Bulls to the Eastern Conference Finals twice in 1974 and 1975, the team’s best playoff run at the time.
In his final year in the NBA in the 1976–1977 season, he played for the Chicago Bullsthem New York Knicks and them Seattle Supersonics. Overall, he averaged 17.6 points and 5.9 rebounds in 789 games over his 11 seasons in the Magic World.
Love stopped at 12,623 points with the Bulls, “writing” history and being behind only Scottie Pippen and Michael Jordan. The Bulls withdrew his jersey with the number 10becoming the second player in team history to receive the honor, to see his jersey adorn its ceiling United Center. Later, he worked as an ambassador for the team and despite the fact that he grew up with stutteringevolved into one motivational speaker in the Chicago area.
