  • Ole Kristian Strøm, VG

It makes alpine legend Marc Girardelli (61) compare Hirscher to Mike Tyson, who made a comeback in the boxing ring against Jake Paul last weekend.

Hirscher is back after five years away.

  • In the giant slalom start in Sölden, he was number 23, two seconds and 16 hundredths behind winner Alexander Steen Olsen.
  • In the slalom start in Finland last weekend, things only went worse: Hirscher was number 46.

– Marcel Hirscher reminded me of boxing legend Mike Tyson in his slalom comeback. In the steep part of the track, he was only concerned with defending himself, writes Girardelli in his column at heute.at.

– In my opinion, the weak performance was not only due to the ice performance in Levi.

Girardelli elaborates:

– Slalom will also be very difficult for Hirscher in the future. It is more about being athletic and fast. There he is no longer at the top of the world than in the giant slalom, where I think he can manage to be among the top ten, says Marc Girardelli.

– I’m excited about what the analysis will show. This was really modest, almost embarrassing.

– It was a struggle to survive. I’ve never experienced it like this before, it was something completely new for me.

– I leave Levi full of learning, which I take with me further.
