In its first home defeat and second in a row in the Super League, Volos obliged Aris, in the 12th game of the championship. “Golden” scorer for the visitors was Mark Koszta in the 36th minute. Many complaints from the “yellows” about the refereeing of Petros Tsagarakis, who… got back a hint for a penalty in the 38th minute for Myga’s hand.
With this victory, the team from Magnesia ended a negative streak of two defeats and caught Panserraikos in 10th place with 13 points, while for the Thessalonians this was the second consecutive defeat, as a result of which they remain in first place in the standings with 21 points, but they are going to lose the top, since on Sunday (24/11) the Olympiacos – AEK derby follows, where the two “gladiators” also have 21 points each.
The evolution of the fight
From the start, Aris was the team that tried to impose its rhythm, while the “hosts” were focused on their defensive tasks. The first threat was for the Thessalonians in the 18th minute, but Loron Moron’s shot went wide, without causing any problems for Daniel Kovacs.
Afterwards, the tempo of the match dropped noticeably, until the 36th minute, which became the first phase that marked the match. Manu Garthia lost the ball outside the Volos area, the “yellows” protested for a foul, but the Thessalians seized the opportunity and went on the counter.
“Voices” from Ari, a goal against Volos
After several fights, the ball reached Daniel Sudgren inside the Aris area, Fran Veleth could not clear, the Volos defender took the shot, Julian Cuesta saved, but in the rebound, Mark Koszta with an aerial volley, opened the score 1-0 for the guests.
Tsagarakis got… a back penalty
With the resumption of the match, from the center of the “yellows”, the referee Petros Tsagarakis indicated a penalty in the hand of Giorgos Mygas, after an attempt by Hugo Mayo. However, Fotis Polychronis, who was in control of the VAR, called the referee Haniotis to an on field review, as a result of which the “master” of the match… took back his decision.
This was the second phase that caused strong complaints from the home side, who also showed their frustration on the pitch, as a result of which they did not create dangerous situations in the home of Daniel Kovacs.
Beam the “yellows”
A few minutes after the start of the second half, Aris missed a great opportunity to level the match, when in 49′ Loron Moron made a cross – shot, aiming to find Manu Garthia, the latter did not make contact with the ball, which hit Daniel Kovacs’ left post and went wide.
The hosts continued to press the home of Voliots and in the 77th minute they asked for a penalty after Nemanja Miletić marked Loron Moron, but the referee Tsagarakis signaled for the match to continue, while in the 83rd minute Alvaro Zamora did not catch the ball that ended up in his arms Daniel Kovacs.
In fact, the goalkeeper of Volos acted correctly in the 88th minute on the foul by Moncho Rodríguez, while in the 92nd minute Alvaro Zamora’s header did not find the target, as a result of which he lost the last good moment for Aris.
