Olympic Gold Winner Candra Wijaya Establishes Badminton Center of Excellence, Looking for Superior Seeds for Indonesia

Liputan6.com, Jakarta 2000 Sydney Olympic gold medalist Candra Wijaya increasingly focused on developing badminton at an early age after hanging up his racket. Candra previously owned the Candra Wijaya Badminton Academy (DYSCW) which has become the leading badminton academy in Asia.

In November 2024, Candra Wijaya will create a Badminton Center of Excellence after his academy signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Raffles School Group (RGS). This partnership aims to create extraordinary opportunities for young athletes and develop badminton talent at regional and international levels.

This strategic collaboration is designed to bring a new dimension to badminton education and training. Based on the agreement in the MoU, the two parties will work together on several key initiatives to develop potential badminton talent and promote the sport among students and educators.

Later, DYSCW and RGS will jointly develop and organize an annual badminton tournament to provide a world-class platform for student-athletes from international schools to compete, learn and network with peers and elite players from around the world.

The partnership will also offer professional training clinics and summer camps for Physical Education students and teachers, led by renowned coaches and former top-level players. These programs will focus on skill development, sports science and the latest training methodologies.
