Solbakken: Ødegaard on his way to Norway
[ad_1]
Martin Ødegaard is on his way to Norway. It is currently unclear whether he will play the international matches against Slovenia and Kazakhstan.
This is confirmed by national team coach Ståle Solbakken to VG.
– We’ll see how it turns out. The ankle, the medics and Martin decide this, writes Solbakken.
Martin Ødegaard became not selected for Norway’s Nations League squad last week.
The reason was an ankle injury the Drammenser suffered in the 2–1 victory against Austria in September.
Between the Austria match and the national team selection, Ødegaard did not play a single minute for Arsenal.

On the same day that the long shot was taken out, Arsenal shared pictures of Ødegaard on the training ground ahead of their Champions League meeting with Inter.
Ødegaard joined Italia, started on the bench and came on two minutes into overtime.
Five days later, Ødegaard played from the start against Chelsea. There he played 90 minutes.
There he delivered this goal-scoring pass:
After the match, VG asked Arsenal’s coach Mikel Arteta if Ødegaard was going to contribute for the Norwegian national team this week.
– I will talk to him (Martin Ødegaard) about it, Arteta told VG.
– But what do you prefer? That he stays in London to get properly fit, or that he goes to the national team? asks VG.
– I will talk to him and then I can tell you what I prefer, said Arteta.
Ødegaard himself was asked by the English press about the same thing after the fight.
– I don’t know, I’ll be honest. It’s a discussion we should have now, said Ødegaard in this interview:
At Gardermoen, several drivers in black suits are ready to transport the national team players from the airport to the player hotel in Oslo.
One of them is Morten Thorsby. The Genoa player says he doesn’t know if Ødegaard will play for Norway or not.
– I have spoken to him, but not about that. So we’ll see if he shows up. It would be very nice, says Thorsby to VG.
Two other drivers hold tablets that say “Warren Kaminzi” and “Colin Rösler”.
Warren Kamanzi is the freshest name in the national team, according to him Television 2. He was not there when the squad was presented.
– No one has reported a failure yet, but we have received hints that it could happen during the day, says Ståle Solbakken to TV 2.
Trønder plays for French Toulouse. He has played ten matches in Ligue 1 this season and has three matches for Norway’s U21 national team.
Norway will meet Slovenia on Thursday and Kazakhstan on Sunday in the last two games in the Nations League.
Before disse to oppgjørene, Norway has seven points from four games, exactly the same as Austria and Slovenia.
If Norway is to advance from the group, they will most likely have to win both of their matches while Austria drops points in at least one of their matches.
Austria meets Kazakhstan away and Slovenia at home.
