A big news related to the Indian sports world has come to light. This time there has been a stir due to match fixing in football. The surprising thing is that not only the players but also the teams were involved in match fixing, against whom major action has been taken. In fact, Mizoram Football Association (MFA) has taken major action against three clubs, three club officials and 24 players for match rigging in the recently concluded Mizoram Premier League-11. Some of these players have also been banned for life.

Three clubs – Sihphir Wenghlun FC, FC Bethlehem and Ramhlun Athletic FC – have been banned for three years along with three match officials for allegedly manipulating the results of matches in the Mizoram Premier League. Apart from this, players have been banned at different levels. Let us tell you, among the banned players is also Ramhun Atletico FC’s league top scorer Felix Lalruatsanga, who had scored eight goals.

Mizoram Football Association has banned 2 out of these 24 players for life time. At the same time, a five-year ban has been imposed on four players, a three-year ban has been imposed on 10 players and a one-year ban has been imposed on eight players. The Mizoram Football Association acknowledged that the scandal could damage the league’s reputation and stressed its commitment to move forward with transparency and integrity.

Mizoram Football Association issued statement

“These activities involving some mischievous elements represent a serious violation of our values, undermine the integrity of our game and insult the fans who passionately support Mizoram football,” the Mizoram Football Association said in a statement. As a result of these findings, we have imposed tough penalties on those involved. We would like to assure all fans, partners and stakeholders that we are taking all possible measures to prevent any such incident from happening again. The MFA will enhance its regulatory framework and strengthen monitoring systems to protect the fairness of our competitions.
