Manchester United are struggling in the Premier League so far this season and have to start getting favorable results soon.

Despite a mid-season managerial change, the results haven’t exactly panned out as expected.

The January transfer window provides Ruben Amorim with an opportunity to reinforced the squad and bring in players who he feels, will suit his tactical system. However, Manchester United do not have much FFP room to play around with.

There are many areas in the squad that Manchester United need to address but it is not practical to make all the reinforcements in the same window. However, what the Red Devils can do is get creative.

For a club in transition like the English club are in currently, signing a player who can provide cover in two or three positions could be the way to go.

Despite spending heavily to reinforce the defense last summer, United have been vulnerable at the back and have let in 29 goals in 21 games thus far, and have a goal difference of negative 3. So, it is not surprising that the Old Trafford outfit are linked with defenders.

As per A Bola, Man Utd are interested in signing Sporting CP defender, Ousmane Diomande.

The Red Devils are not alone in the race for the talented Ivorian defender with Bayern Munich, also interested in his signature.

The youngster is said to have a release clause of around £68 million in his contract with the Portuguese club.

However, as per the Portuguese source, Sporting are willing to part ways with him for lesser with an asking fee of £42m-£51m being reported. For a player as versatile as Diomande, the fee makes sense.
