Earlier today we covered a claim from Monday’s edition of Corriere dello Sport which stated Manchester United officials are set for a meeting with Lecce to discuss the transfer of Patrick Dorgu.
The Premier League club were said to be pressing to sign the Lecce fullback and it was thought a move in January would cost €30m+.
Corriere dello Sport were out ahead in front of others and since then those sources have been making their own enquiries for information.
Gazzetta dello Sport now arrive with some strong claims on the possibility of Dorgu moving to Manchester United in the coming days. According to the famous old Italian newspaper, the Premier League have submitted an ‘initial formal offer’ for the 20-year-old.
That offer stands at just under €30m and isn’t considered enough to please Lecce.
However, talks between the two club are said to have intensified in recent hours, and it’s thought that if Manchester United offer €35m plus bonuses… Lecce would accept.
Gazzetta dello Sport believe ‘white smoke’ can even be achieved in the coming hours, with a meeting between Manchester United directors and Dorgu’s camp.
Lecce want a deal concluding as soon as possible so they have time to buy a replacement.
Agent spotted in my Manchester United
The agent of Lecce left-back Patrick Dorgu has been spotted in Manchester today following reports that Manchester United are in talks to sign the Denmark international.
The Red Devils want to bolster their options in the position and the 20-year-old has emerged as a target for the January transfer window.
Dorgu’s agent, Kingsley Ogbodo, took to social media platform Instagram today to share a picture of himself at Manchester Airport, hinting that a deal could be close.
Man United left-back Tyrell Malacia could be allowed to leave on loan this month for his development to continue elsewhere after recently returning from a long-term injury.
They are in dire need of reinforcements following a woeful campaign which has seen them drop to 13th place in the table after ten defeats and five draws in 22 games, and landing Dorgu could come in handy.
However, the youngster will not be the solution to their struggles and Man United will need to recruit more quality players going forward to become a force to reckon with once again.
A couple of major exits are expected at the Old Trafford club this month but it remains to be seen whether they will be able to complete more than one or two deals in the opposite direction.
Finishing in the top-seven and securing European football for next season already looks like a foregone conclusion, and Amorim could do with quality signings this month to boost their chances of ending the campaign well.
