Manchester United defender Tyrell Malacia has left the club on loan and may not return.

Tyrell Malacia left Manchester United on loan on deadline day, with the deal confirmed 24 hours later due to the extended deadline in the Netherlands.

The move is an opportunity for Malacia to push on with his career after spending 17 months sidelined due to injury.

Malacia has signed with PSV Eindhoven, with the move well received in the Netherlands – except for in one place.

Malacia sale terms set, would hurt Feyenoord

Tyrell Malacia has left Manchester United on a loan deal, and it is a loan that includes an option to buy.

United have not been too ambitious, agreeing the option at £8.3 million (10m Euros).

This sets Manchester United up to make a loss on the fee paid for Malacia in 2022, £12 million rising to a potential £15 million with add-ons.

There was a crucial element added into the deal from Feyenoord’s perspective, Manchester United included a sell-on clause into the agreement.

But this sell-on clause was only related to Manchester United’s future profit on Tyrell Malacia.

And with United set to make a loss on the Dutchman, Feyenoord won’t be seeing a penny from his permanent departure, should it go ahead.

It’s insult to injury for his former club, with Malacia joining Dutch rivals and league leaders PSV.

Signing Patrick Dorgu showed Manchester United’s plans for the position, brought in to play the left-wing back role.

An element of Tyrell Malacia’s exit was framed as being a chance for him to go and play consistently, amid intermittent appearances upon returning from injury.

Yet the permanent sale clause showed United’s true intentions, ready to move on from the Dutch star, who was a Netherlands international before his injury.

You can argue the sale clause is too low, but United are simply ready to move on, and get what they can.
