“I know they defeated us but Bruno Fernandes shouldn’t be captain when they have such a fantastic player with a great leadership traits…It’s a crime”: Leicester City manager Ruud van Nistelrooy has named ONE United’s player who’s far better than Bruno Fernandes in terms of leadership

Harry Maguire scored a 93rd minute winner for Manchester United against Leicester City, however, fans are livid as the defender looked to be offside.

United looked scruffy yet again as they took on Premier League strugglers Leicester in their fourth-round FA Cup clash. The Red Devils conceded in the first half after Bobby De Cordova-Reid beat Andre Onana. However, Joshua Zirkzee brought the defending FA Cup champions level in the 68th minute before Maguire scored the winner in the third minute of injury time.

The England international looked clearly offside as Bruno Fernandes swung his free kick into the box, however, the linesman did not raise his flag and with no VAR available the goal stood and fans are livid at the obvious error.

X user @PoorEPLreferees wrote:”I’m sorry but how has the linesman not been able to lift his flag up for Maguire’s goal when there were FOUR United players in an offside position. He’s literally in line with them as the free kick is taken as well.”

@JackWhitman_7 added: “It’s genuinely a mockery now, was never a free kick in the first place even with the commentator saying the referee was ‘influenced’ by the crowd. Just for Maguire to be this far offside for his goal. The bias to the bigger clubs is unbelievable.”

Another fan @LFC_Lucas_ wrote: “That’s horrendous by the linesman, he’s miles offside and Maguire is the first man he can see? Pure corruption.”

Manchester City fan @Priceless_MCI wrote: “Maguire’s offside, This is how Fergie won all his trophies btw! Not surprised”

Leicester boss and former United interim coach Ruud van Nistelrooy raged after the match as the Red Devils legend claimed his side were hard done by poor officiating.

Speaking to the media, Van Nistelrooy said: “This wasn’t about being beaten in Fergie time, it was about being beaten in offside time. VAR wasn’t necessary. That deals with centimetres and inches; this was half a metre. He was clear in line.”

The early rounds of the FA Cup are not equipped with Video Assistant Referee (VAR) as many lower-tier clubs lack the technology required for the system to be properly implemented with an additional requirement for officials at all the games. However, the system will be available when the FA Cup fifth round begins.
