Man Utd player ratings against Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League.
Casemiro struggled as a depleted Manchester United lost 1-0 to Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League on Sunday.
Ruben Amorim named four changes to his starting line up for the match after his side was rocked by injury and illness, with 12 senior stars absent from the trip to North London. Eight of those named on the bench had never played a competitive game for the club before.
United started reasonably well but soon found themselves behind when James Maddison reacted first to a rebound and fired Tottenham into an early lead. They responded well to the goal though and should have been level when Alejandro Garnacho blasted an effort over the bar from inside the box.
Mathys Tel wasted a glorious chance to double Tottenham’s lead after the restart and Diogo Dalot was harshly flagged offside before he fired a tame effort at Guglielmo Vicario. United went close again when Garnacho latched onto a brilliant ball from Joshua Zirkzee but fired straight at goal.
United continued to push for an equaliser and went close when Zirkzee glanced wide after an excellent cross from Noussair Mazraoui, while Rasmus Hojlund drilled a low effort at goa.

Andre Onana – 5
He should have done a lot better with the opening goal but improved after that mistake.
Noussair Mazraoui – 6
He did his job well enough as United nullified much of the Tottenham threat. He made some important blocks and delivered a dangerous cross into the box.
Harry Maguire – 6
His physicality was important in both boxes and he defended reasonably well. He was United’s best defender again.
Matthijs de Ligt – 5
A decent enough individual display other than a couple of shaky moments in the second-half when he lost possession.
Diogo Dalot – 4
He played James Maddison onside for the Spurs opener and was run ragged by Son throughout. He improved after the restart and posed an attacking threat but his delivery into the box was bad.
Bruno Fernandes – 4
He did not offer enough in central midfield and was guilty of getting caught out of position. He stepped up in the second-half, but it was still not by much.
Casemiro – 3
His lack of mobility was a real issue throughout and his selection was a last resort for Amorim. A worrying performance given the injury crisis.
Patrick Dorgu – 5
An encouraging second performance for the club. He covered a lot of ground and was always available on the left-wing for a pass, but he lacked end product.
Alejandro Garnacho – 6
Blasted a glorious opportunity over the crossbar and fired another straight at Vicario. He should have scored but deserves credit for working so hard.
Joshua Zirkzee – 6
It was one of his better games as a starter. He linked up play well and made some good contributions throughout. United’s best attacker and he went close with a late header.
Rasmus Hojlund – 5
He caused some problems with his movement and got in behind the defence but rarely threatened the Tottenham goal.
