Arsene Wenger tips Liverpool as Premier League title favourites
Opta have predicted Liverpool to win the title and it seems like former Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger agrees.
Despite Liverpool facing off against his beloved Gunners in the title race, it seems like Wenger is thinking with his head over his heart when it comes to predicting the Premier League winners.
Speaking on beINSports, the Arsenal icon tipped Liverpool to go on and win the title over Mikel Arteta’s side.
“It’s simple, they (Liverpool) need to lose games but now we are 25 games played and Liverpool have only lost one. So they have to lose three at least, in the next 13 games.
“At the moment it looks unlikely unless they collapse, but until now they only lost one game. So they are the super favourite and on top of that Arsenal now has to make the perfect run.
“I pray, I pray but I have to improve the quality of my praying.”
Slot beats Wenger to Premier League record
Wenger is undoubtedly one of the best managers in Premier League history and Slot is said to be a big fan of the Frenchman.
Speaking in January 2024, prior to his Liverpool arrival, Slot told Voetbal International:
“Yes, I could become a kind of Arsene Wenger at Feyenoord, although you don’t see that much these days.”
If Slot is hoping to recreate the success Wenger had, the stats suggest he is certainly on his way.
That is because the Dutchman has become the manager with the second-highest point tally after 25 Premier League games (60), only second to Jose Mourinho’s 64.
This achievement places Slot above the legendary likes of Alex Ferguson (47), Jurgen Klopp (42), Pep Guardiola (52), Arsene Wenger (43) and Carlo Ancelotti (58).
