“Manchester United could have won that game comfortably but this particular guy ruined all their chances, Ruben must axe him if he really want to succeed”: Pep Guardiola named the only player Manchester United must axed if he really want to succeed

Jamie Redknapp has criticised Rasmus Hojlund after the Manchester United striker missed a golden chance to score a winner in Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Arsenal.

The scores were level after brilliant strikes from Bruno Fernandes and Declan Rice when Mikel Merino gave the ball away on the edge of the area in the second half.

Hojlund latched on to the loose ball but took too long to get his shot away, allowing Rice to make a last-ditch challenge.

United fans were not impressed with the out of form striker’s hesitancy and Redknapp agreed.

‘He would have been sitting on the bench thinking please give me one of these kinds of chances.

‘He doesn’t get his first touch right, takes it too wide He’s had to open his body up with his left foot and bend it in.

‘It’s just not good enough, it’s too slow. I just don’t understand why he thinks he’s got more time than that. Everything is happening so quickly.’

Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville also had his say, commenting: ‘it was a bit of a lack of awareness from Rasmus Hojlund not knowing what was happening around him and some great defending from Declan Rice.

Hojlund hasn’t enjoyed the run of the green since Amorim’s Old Trafford arrival in November and is without a Premier League goal since mid-December, when he bagged in a 3-2 loss to Nottingham Forest.

The £72million man has thus accrued his fair share of critics, with some branding him as one of the worst value-for-money signings in recent memory.

With just two leagues strikes to his name this term, Amorim made the decision to drop the Dane for Sunday’s game amid his 19-game goal drought.

However, the Portuguese boss has insisted that form was not the reason behind his benching.

‘No, it’s freshness,’ he said. ‘I think he was really fatigued at the end of the game. And we tried different things.
