Medical Completed: £100million rated superb striker has just completed his medical test ahead of Arsenal’s move

Arsenal are in “concrete talks” with RB Leipzig regarding striker Benjamin Sesko, according to Sky Sports Germany’s Florian Plettenberg.

The Gunners have had another impressive season on paper, reaching the semi-finals of the Champions League and confirming a second-placed finish in the 2024/25 Premier League. For Arsenal fans and manager Mikel Arteta, however, it is yet another campaign without any silverware for the North London side.

Arteta has done a lot of good during his reign as Arsenal manager, though the fact remains that he has not won any major trophies since the 2019 FA Cup. Much has been said, particularly this season, about Arsenal’s striking options, or lack thereof, after both Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz suffered injuries in January.

Having resorted to playing Mikel Merino, a midfielder, as a makeshift number nine, it is no surprise that Arsenal are looking at strikers ahead of the summer. It would now appear, however, that the Gunners are progressing on a deal for one of their targets.

Arsenal Want Sesko

Arsenal have seen themselves linked to the likes of Alexander Isak and Viktor Gyokeres in recent weeks. According to Plettenberg, however, the Gunners are “in concrete talks with RB Leipzig regarding Benjamin Sesko.” Sesko has been with Leipzig since 2023, having joined them from Red Bull Salzburg in Austria, where he developed as a talent.

Sesko has been one of the Bundesliga’s best strikers since his arrival in Germany. A tall and imposing forward, Sesko can generate thunderous power in his strikes which, combined with his movement, physical stature and “electrifying pace,” have made him one of the most sought-after strikers in Europe.

After yet another impressive season with Leipzig, the club’s failure to qualify for the Champions League put clubs on high alert regarding Sesko. Arteta is reportedly a “big admirer” of Sesko and there is a clear place for him in Arsenal’s first team. At just 21 years old, Sesko could feasibly spend years at the Emirates Stadium.

According to Plettenberg, Sesko’s release clause for the summer stands at just over £67 million. Fellow target Gyokeres would be available for around £70 million, which suggests that Arsenal certainly have the funds for what would be a brilliant acquisition.
