Manchester United have agreed the framework of a deal to sign Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap this summer, but face competition from Chelsea, Everton, and Newcastle United, according to a report from ESPN.
It’s set to be a busy summer transfer window for the Red Devils after such a disappointing season under Ruben Amorim. United finished in the bottom half of the table, and there’s no doubt they need reinforcements to be able to turn things back in the right direction.
Adding players to their forward line could be a major priority in the coming weeks and months. Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee were brought to the club in recent years, but both strikers have failed to hit the ground running and might not be what United need to go to the next level.

According to a report from ESPN, United have agreed the framework for a deal to sign Ipswich striker Delap, and they are now waiting for the England youth international to make a decision on his future. Delap has spoken to a host of clubs ahead of a move, but United have now informed Ipswich that they would be willing to pay his £30m release clause.
Delap, described as ‘phenomenal’ by Ipswich teammate Jens Cajuste, has enjoyed an impressive season for the Tractor Boys, despite their relegation. It was Delap’s breakthrough campaign in the Premier League after a few years in the Championship, and he’s shown why a host of clubs are now keen on securing his signature.
United will now be hoping that they’ve done enough during talks to convince Delap to make the move to Old Trafford. The likes of Everton, Chelsea, and Newcastle United are also keen and have held talks, and Delap will now need to weigh up his options. The former Manchester City man will undoubtedly want to be a guaranteed starter at his next club, while clubs like Chelsea and Newcastle can also offer him Champions League football heading into the new campaign.
United have also agreed a deal to sign Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Matheus Cunha, showing that they really mean business in the summer.
