Viktor Gyokeres would be “very keen” on signing for Manchester United this summer, according to journalist Ben Jacobs.
The Red Devils are looking to bolster their forward line after a horrendous campaign in which they finished 15th in the Premier League table and were beaten in the Europa League final, meaning they have no European football in the 2025/26 season.
That also significantly affected their budget for the transfer window, which was believed that have meant a move for Gyokeres may be unattainable, but Jacobs says that may not be the case.
Gyokeres ‘Very Keen’ on Man Utd Transfer

While speaking to The United Stand, Jacobs was asked for an update on the club’s striker search after they missed out on Liam Delap to Chelsea, and he revealed that Gyokeres is still a name under consideration.
“My understanding is that Viktor Gyokeres would be very keen on a move to Man United if they could pull that off, financially speaking.
“I don’t think Gyokeres would be on £300,000 a week or more. So if Rashford and Sancho go they’ve got wage bill space to invest in these players, so that’s why if they bite the bullet on the transfer and agent fees, if they structure it in a way where they can start in the next financial year and get it on flexible instalments, it can be a way they can do that deal.”
The Swede, who has been described as “the best striker in the world” after netting 54 goals in 52 appearances for Sporting CP this season, has been linked with a move away from the Portuguese champions this summer.
Arsenal were said to be one of the clubs at the front of the queue but they are now seemingly prioritising a move for Benjamin Sesko instead, while Ruben Amorim’s relationship with Gyokeres could be a big factor in his next club.
But while the lack of Champions League football was said to be an issue for the 27-year-old, Jacobs believes it is not the be-all-and-end-all for him and he could be open to the move like Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo.
GMS sources have already reported that Man Utd have made contact about getting a deal done for Gyokeres, but it’s believed that sales may be necessary to get a deal over the line.
