Warsaw: Top-ranked Polish female tennis player Iga Swiatek on Friday announced her separation from her coach Tomasz Wiktorowski and said that the decision was taken jointly by both of them. During her three years under Viktorowski’s coaching, Swiatek won four of her five Grand Slam titles and reached the top position in the women’s rankings. Swiatek wrote in a post on Instagram: “After three years of achieving the biggest achievements of our career, together with our coach Tomas Wiktarowski we have decided to part ways. First of all, I want to say thank you and appreciate the work we (coaches) have done together.
Viktorovski was appointed coach of Swiatek at the end of the 2021 season. He also helped her win 19 out of 22 titles in her career and a bronze medal at the Paris Olympics. Our main goal was to become the world number one player and coach Viktorovsky was the first to say this. Swiatek has not competed in any competition since losing to Jessica Pegula in the quarterfinals of the US Open. He had also withdrawn his name from the ongoing China Open in Beijing.
Swiatek wrote – Due to this important change in my team, I am giving myself a few weeks to start working with the new coach. He wrote- Coach, thank you, best wishes to you.
