HERE WE GO: Manchester United finally complete first official summer signing as Europe’s most wanted player snubbed so many clubs to join the Reds

Manchester United have made a breakthrough in their efforts to sign Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo this summer, journalist Rudy Galetti has revealed.

The Red Devils have reportedly agreed personal terms with the Cameroonian forward over a move to Old Trafford and have also had positive contact with Brentford regarding his transfer fee.

Galetti claims the two clubs’ valuations are narrowing, with just a few million now separating them, as United continue to push for Mbeumo’s signature.

The 25-year-old winger is prioritising a move to join forces with Ruben Amorim this summer, despite interest from Tottenham, who appointed his former coach Thomas Frank last week.

Galetti, writing on X, has revealed that Mbeumo has no interest in joining other clubs amid Man United’s ongoing talks with Brentford over the terms of his departure:

Mbeumo is coming off a career-best season in the Premier League, having registered 20 goals and eight assists in 38 appearances.

The ‘insane’ Cameroonian forward, who joined the Bees from French side Troyes in 2019, has just one year left on his contract, although the club hold an option to extend it by a further 12 months.

Man United announced Matheus Cunha as their first summer arrival earlier this month and are aiming to bring in at least two more attackers, with Mbeumo and a new number nine on the agenda.

The Red Devils have missed out on primary striker target Liam Delap to Chelsea and have yet to pinpoint a concrete alternative, with the likes of Viktor Gyokeres and Hugo Ekitike remaining on the radar.
