TERMS AGREED: Arsenal bows to Mikel Arteta’s pressure, agree €100m transfer fee to sign a striker as the superstar lands in London to sign six-years contract

Arsenal travel to Asia for a three-match pre-season tour later this month.

Mikel Arteta has guided his side to second-placed finishes in each of the past three Premier League seasons, most recently missing out to champions Liverpool last term having previously been pipped to the title twice in a row by Manchester City.

The Spaniard will therefore likely want to bolster his squad during this summer’s transfer window, although they are yet to make a single signing so far.

Now, though, it appears that Arteta himself is very keen to fast-track a move for his top target.

As reported by Correio da Manga via GiveMeSport, Arteta has told sporting director Andrea Berta that he wants Arsenal to have signed Viktor Gyokeres prior to their tour of Asia.

Arsenal have been attempting to finalise a deal for the Sporting CP star but have not yet reached an agreement.

The report claims, however, that Arteta is pushing the club to make a new offer for the Swede as he wishes to have him in his squad for their matches in Singapore and Hong Kong.

Gyokeres, 27, has been in scintillating form since joining Sporting from Coventry City in 2023.

The Sweden international has scored a remarkable 97 goals in 102 games for the Lisbon side across all competitions, as well as providing 28 assists.

It is claimed that the Gunners are on the hunt for a new striker after both Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus struggled in front of goal last term.

The duo both also struggled with injuries last season, and Arsenal have also been monitoring RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko as another potential target to bolster Arteta’s attacking options.

Arsenal will face AC Milan, Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur during their tour of Asia.
