Manchester United are actively trying to reinforce their squad for the next campaign after their worst ever Premier League season.

The Red Devils have already signed Matheus Cunha to improve the attack and have now agreed a deal to reinforce the backline.

According to Manchester Evening News, Man United have agreed an initial fee worth £3.3million, rising to £7million to secure the signing of Paraguayan defender, Diego Leon.

The 18-year-old has agreed five-year contract with the Old Trafford outfit with an option to extend for a further year.

Leon made 33 appearances for Cerro Porteno and primarily features in the left back position. For the national side, the teenager has thus far earned 9 caps for the U-20 side.

MEN state that Ruben Amorim will take charge of the pre-season for Man United on July 7 and Diego Leon is expected to be assessed before a decision is made on his next steps for the upcoming campaign.

Last term, Diogo Dalot, a natural right back, mainly featured in the left back / left wing-back position for United.

The 20-year-old is talented and needs time to settle but also needs competition, that is where Diego Leon might come in if he proves his worth in the pre-season.
