Deal Completed: Arsenal has officially confirmed the signing of the fan’s favourite striker who might score 70-goals next season
Arsenal have completed the signing of Brentford midfielder Christian Norgaard for a total package worth £12m, journalist David Ornstein has revealed.
The Gunners welcomed goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga and midfielder Martin Zubimendi last week, and have also advanced in talks to sign Sporting Lisbon star Viktor Gyokeres.
Arsenal will reportedly pay £10m guaranteed and up to £2m in add-ons for Norgaard, whose arrival is expected to be announced by the end of the week.
The Danish midfielder will bring proven Premier League experience to Mikel Arteta’s midfield, having spent the last four seasons in the English top flight with Brentford, amassing 122 appearances.
Norgaard was a key player for the Bees and served as captain under Thomas Frank, who left to become Tottenham manager last month.
The ‘special’ 31-year-old joined Brentford from Fiorentina in the summer of 2019 and has just completed his sixth successive season at the Gtech Community Stadium.
Arsenal are set to continue their summer spree following the deal for Norgaard, with a new striker and wide forward next on Arteta’s agenda.
While talks are at an advanced stage for Gyokeres’ arrival up front, the Gunners are believed to have earmarked Chelsea ace Noni Madueke as a top target on the wing.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal are now expected to send an opening bid for the England international, after he verbally agreed to join on a five-year deal.
