HERE WE GO: Arsenal finally agree transfer fee to sign their dream striker and winger as the both deal are set to be completed today

Arsenal could reach an agreement to sign Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres today, according to Portuguese newspaper Record (via SportWitness).

The Gunners are continuing work on a deal to bring the 26-year-old forward to the Emirates this summer, and there is a sense that a breakthrough in talks could be made this week.

The clubs have so far been unable to agree a package for Gyokeres, as Sporting are holding out for a deal worth €70m plus €10m in add-ons.

Arsenal have so far been willing to pay €65m plus €15m in add-ons, although Sporting remain ‘confident’ that a final agreement will be reached in the coming days, potentially as soon as today.

Gyokeres is believed to be prioritising a move to the Emirates this summer, despite long-standing interest from Manchester United and head coach Ruben Amorim.

The Sweden international is said to have told United chiefs that he would prefer to join forces with Mikel Arteta instead and become Arsenal’s new number nine.

Gyokeres has blossomed into one of the best strikers in Europe during his two-year spell at Sporting, where he scored 97 goals in 102 appearances.

He led the Portuguese club to a league and cup double last year and made his Champions League debut, scoring six times in eight appearances.

Arsenal’s summer business has picked up pace in recent weeks, with deals for Kepa Arrizabalaga and Martin Zubimendi completed.

The Gunners are expected to announce Brentford midfielder Christian Norgaard’s arrival next and also remain in talks to sign both Valencia centre-back Cristhian Mosquera and Chelsea winger Noni Madueke.

Madueke is believed to have already reached an agreement on a five-year deal with the North London club, who have submitted an initial bid worth £50m for the forward.
