DONE DEAL: IT’S OFFICIAL! ARSENAL HAVE COMPLETED A MASSIVE £85 MILLION DEAL FOR VIKTOR

Arsenal are edging ever closer to securing a blockbuster move for Viktor Gyokeres as their wait for a striker is finally coming to an end.

Mikel Arteta is getting the wish he has desired at Arsenal as Gyokeres’ signing will send a message of intent to the Premier League.

Arsenal have met Sporting’s £69m valuation for Gyokeres as the Swede’s signature will surely be penned with his career in Lisbon over.

His impressive numbers warrant a move to England’s elite, and the Gunners will be hoping it’s a smooth transition from here on out after Arsenal’s previous issues with Gyokeres.

With Gyokeres’ signing, he will become one of, if not the most dangerous forward in the top flight, and he has a message for Arsenal’s rivals.

Viktor Gyokeres sends message to Arsenal’s rivals

Arteta can finally move past the fiascos of securing a striker, and it’s some statement to bring Gyokeres in.

Despite interest in Benjamin Sesko suggesting he would be the main man for the Gunners, Gyokeres suits Arsenal more for now rather than a long-term option.

With his addition, Alan Shearer sees Arsenal as a huge threat, and it’s clear to see why with the 27-year-old leading the line.

A shiver might be sent over the likes of Liverpool and Man City now that Arsenal are closing in on a proper striker, but they might be more concerned after what Gyokeres has just said.

Speaking to L’Equipe, the Sporting forward has talked of a Premier League return and sent a warning to Arsenal’s competitors.

I only think about scoring and winning. It changes everything,” Gyokeres said.

“Premier League? I spent several years there without being able to play a single match. So, of course, it’s something I’d like to do.”

“It would be great revenge!”

The forward is clearly excited to set foot in the Emirates Stadium and strike fear into opposition defenders.

Of course, the Premier League is a whole different ball game compared to Liga Portugal, but that shouldn’t faze Gyokeres after his tremendous goal-scoring record at Sporting.

He will have to face harder defenders, no doubt, but thankfully for Arsenal, they already have two of the best defenders in the game, and Gyokeres appears to be a fan.

When asked if any players impressed him, Gyokeres said to the French outlet: “Yes, definitely. Especially at English clubs. Midfielders like Bernardo Silva, (Mateo) Kovacic at Manchester City, or (Bukayo) Saka at Arsenal are impressive to watch.

“I’ve also faced very high-level defenders, like Gabriel and (William) Saliba. It’s a chance to play against those kinds of players.”

Well, the likelihood is that he won’t be playing against these two and instead will be alongside the formidable duo next season, and Gyokeres must be excited to play with Saka.

It’s clear that Gyokeres is ready for the challenge, and the Premier League should be scared.
