Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson is “on the shortlist” of Manchester United as they search for a striker, according to Florian Plettenberg of Sky Sports Germany.

Ruben Amorim, appointed early last term to replace Erik ten Hag as Man United manager, now finally has a pre-season to implement his ideas and a transfer window in which he can shape his squad more to his image. The Red Devils have already signed Matheus Cunha from Wolverhampton Wanderers and are close to recruiting Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo.

It would appear that the Old Trafford side want to further bolster their attacking ranks, given that they have a list of striker targets with one particular forward in focus.

Striker could depart Chelsea

Sky Sports Germany’s Florian Plettenberg has reported that Nicolas Jackson is “on the shortlist” for Man United in their search for a striker. The Senegalese international has been with Chelsea since 2023 and has shown flashes of brilliance, albeit with accompanying patches of inconsistency.

Though Jackson, who earns £100,000 per week according to Capology, has been a starter for Chelsea since his arrival, this could now be in doubt. The Blues have signed both Liam Delap and Joao Pedro this summer and given manager Enzo Maresca plays with just one number nine, it is unclear as to whether Jackson is in the Italian’s future plans.

Plettenberg has reported that Jackson could depart Stamford Bridge if “a suitable offer arrives” for the forward. The Red Devils have both Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee as striking options, though both players have struggled for form since arriving at Old Trafford. Marcus Rashford, meanwhile, is set to join Barcelona. In Jackson, Man United would be signing a striker who, crucially, has Premier League experience, as they look to improve on such a turgid campaign.
