Amelia Kerr and Noman Ali won ICC Player of the Month award

Dubai : The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Tuesday awarded New Zealand’s all-rounder female player Amelia Kerr and Pakistan’s male bowler Noman Ali the ‘ICC Player of the Month’ for October 2024 for their excellent performances.

In the T-20 World Cup, New Zealand all-rounder Amelia Kerr performed brilliantly and contributed significantly in helping her team win. For this he was awarded Player of the Tournament. He took 15 wickets in six matches. He scored 29 runs and took four wickets against Australia. He scored 34 runs and took two wickets against Sri Lanka. Took three wickets for 14 runs against Pakistan. He took two wickets for 14 runs in the semi-final match against West Indies.

Kerr scored 43 runs in 38 balls in the final against South Africa and was the team’s top scorer. Along with this, he took three wickets for 24 runs. He then took four wickets in the ODI series against India in Ahmedabad. Noman Ali took 20 wickets in the three-Test series against England in October.

He played an important role in helping Pakistan, which was trailing 1-0 in the three-Test series, win the remaining two matches. In the second Test, he took three wickets for 101 runs in the first innings. And in the second innings he took eight wickets for 46 runs. He took three wickets for 88 runs in the first innings in the third Test. Six wickets were taken for 42 runs in the second innings. Along with this, he also scored 45 runs in the first innings of the second test.

Kerr and Noman won following a vote conducted between global fans registered on ICCdescricket.com and an expert panel of ICC Hall of Famers, former international players and media representatives. Kerr defeated fellow Women’s T20 World Cup stars Diandra Dottin and Laura Wolvaardt to win the October award. The same Noman became the winner in the men’s category in the ICC World Test Championship competition last month by defeating the best wicket-takers Kagiso Rabada and Mitchell Santner elsewhere.

On receiving the Women’s Player of the Month award, Kerr said, ‘It is an honor for me to receive this award because there are so many world-class cricketers around the world who deserve it.’ He said, ‘It is a special month for me with this World Cup win and it means a lot to me, the team, the coaches, New Zealand and my family. Without these people I couldn’t do what I’m doing.

Noman Ali said, ‘I am delighted to be named the ICC Men’s Player of the Month and I am extremely grateful to all my teammates who helped me give my best to help Pakistan win a historic home Test series against England. So to receive.’ He said, ‘It is always exciting to be a part of such a memorable victory for your country.’
