“Arsenal are going to humiliate Manchester United but only if Mikel Arteta start that particular…He was the weapon fashioned against us last last year and I won’t forget him even in a hurry”: Liverpool coach Arne Slot names ONE Arsenal’s player as most dangerous player he has ever faced in his entire career, urged Arteta to start him against Manchester United

Arsenal begin their FA Cup campaign with a heavyweight third-round clash against Manchester United.

The Gunners were beaten 2-0 by Newcastle in the first leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final on Tuesday and are looking for a response.

Sunday’s meeting should offer the same kind of inspiration, although it remains to be seen if the Red Devils can string coherent performances together.

Here’s everything you need to know about the game.

How both teams go into Arsenal vs Man United

This is a fixture steeped in FA Cup history. This century alone, Arsenal and Man United have faced off seven times, including the 2004-05 final. Since their last FA Cup success in 2019-20, Arsenal haven’t had the best luck in the competition. In the four seasons since, they’ve been knocked out in the third round twice and the fourth round twice. Last season they were beaten by Liverpool in the third round, losing 0-2 at home.

For Man United, this is Ruben Amorim second taste of cup football in England. His first experience wasn’t a good one, with Man United knocked out of the EFL Cup by Tottenham Hotspur.

It’s been a rough start to life in England for Amorim in general, losing six of his first 11 games in charge of Man United. He also failed to win the Portuguese Cup in each of his six seasons in charge of the competition, reaching the final just once with Sporting CP.
