With defending Premier League champions, Liverpool, adding to their already jaw-dropping side, clubs such as Arsenal have attacked the transfer window with a much-needed awareness of what could be in store for the 2025/26 Premier League season.

A role that has been played by Kai Havertz, Mikel Merino and Gabriel Jesus, the North London side set their sights on Sporting CP’s Gyokeres as the answer to their number nine problem.
After weeks of intense talks, Arsenal struck a deal with Sporting worth €63.5m, along with €10m in add-ons. With the official announcement yet to have taken place, it is seen as a formality for this deal to be completed relatively soon.
A forward who was linked with the likes of Manchester United, coming off the back of a season in which he scored 39 goals in 33 league games, it could be easy to assume the Swede would be commanding a hefty weekly wage. However, according to a report from A Bola, a Portuguese sports newspaper, Arsenal’s new number nine won’t be battling it out with the club’s top earners if he is to sign a contract with the Gunners.
The paper revealed that Gyokeres is set to earn a net salary of £7.2m per year, a figure that translates to £138,000 per week – a relatively modest wage for one of Europe’s most clinical forwards.
Leaving Portugal with an outstanding record of 97 goals in 102 games, the Swede will be hoping his time away from the English game has prepared him for the physicality and tenacity of the Premier League. An investment that has been a long time coming for Arsenal, fans of the North London side will be hoping this can be the forward that brings them to glory.
