BREAKING NEWS: I have played with Cole Palmer, Phil Foden and alot of great players but that kid did something I’ve never seen in my whole career…I can’t wait to play with him next season”: Arsenal’s superstar Bukayo Saka had named ONE Arsenal’s academy star as the most impressive player he has ever played with

Arsenal fans will already be hotly anticipating the start of the new Premier League season, partly so they get to see Viktor Gyokeres in competitive action.

Viktor Gyokeres is only the third striker Mikel Arteta has bought since he arrived at Arsenal in 2019, and he’s arguably the most significant.

Gabriel Jesus was the first in 2022, he led the way for Arteta once the club had finally parted ways with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

And although he wasn’t initially signed as a striker, Kai Havertz has prevailed as a number nine for the Gunners following his own move from Chelsea in 2023.

But as Rio Ferdinand has pointed out about Gyokeres, Arsenal have finally bought a natural goalscorer, albeit one who is yet to prove himself in the Premier League.

Noni Madueke could be key to Viktor Gyokeres succeeding at Arsenal

In a recent report from The Athletic, it was claimed that Arteta was already exploring how he could change his current system to get the best out of Gyokeres.

And perhaps the arrival of Noni Madueke from Chelsea might actually be key towards the Swede succeeding in north London.

So far in his career, Madueke has predominantly played as a right winger, and if not, he’s actually played in a central role most often.

But in his new chapter at Arsenal, Arteta might actually be envisioning the 23-year-old in an unfamiliar position, on the left wing.

On the right, Bukayo Saka is always going to be Arsenal’s starter, and Madueke will be considered his most natural backup next season.

But Arsenal haven’t paid more than £50m just for their squad depth, and Arteta might actually be planning to play Madueke on the left to help Gyokeres continue his scoring in England.

Mikel Arteta could change Noni Madueke’s position at Arsenal

As things stand, Gabriel Martinelli is most known for cutting inside from the left wing onto his right foot for Arsenal — and the same can be said for Leandro Trossard.

But with Madueke, Arsenal have signed a left-footed left winger who can drive down the byline and cross into the box.

And in his limited appearances for Chelsea on the left, Madueke has looked seriously effective in doing so.

Declan Rice thinks Madueke can be ‘incredible’ for Arsenal, and perhaps playing as a left winger could be the key for the England international to become a regular starter under Arteta.

To succeed at Arsenal this season, Gyokeres will need more deliveries into the box — he’s a natural goalscorer who times his runs into the box incredibly well.

And it therefore makes a lot of sense that Arteta would finally deviate from his plan of having inverted wingers on both sides of his attack.
