Liputan6.com, Jakarta PSIS Semarang managed to achieve a dramatic victory when they were hosted by Persik Kediri at the Brawijaya Stadium, Saturday (23/11/2024) afternoon WIB. A last minute goal gave PSIS a narrow 1-0 win in the 2024/2025 BRI Liga 1 continuation.
Playing at home, Persik actually appeared dominant and was able to create many golden opportunities in front of the PSIS goal. However, Persik had difficulty scoring goals due to the brilliant performance of the visiting team goalkeeper Syahrul Trisna. Several opportunities for Persik were thwarted by Syahrul.
In fact, PSIS was able to steal the goal in the 89th minute. PSIS foreign player Evandro Brandao’s shot was unable to be blocked by Persik goalkeeper Leo Navacchio.
Drama occurred at the end of the match. Syahrul almost turned into a loser for PSIS. Syahrul was given a straight red card by the referee for headbutting opposing player Muhammad Khanafi.
Unfortunately, PSIS has used up its quota of substitutions so it can’t include a reserve goalkeeper. Therefore, defender Brandon Scheunemann was asked to become the impromptu goalkeeper.
Luckily the remaining time was running out. Persik could not take advantage of the superior number of players and the absence of a real goalkeeper. PSIS secured a 1-0 win.
These additional three points made PSIS rise to 12th position in the 2024/2025 BRI Liga 1 standings. They have got 10 points from 11 matches. Meanwhile, Persik is stuck in 10th place with 15 points from 11 matches.
