The heavy rains have affected many areas of the country. OR Crete is one of them and in fact there was a problem in a children’s basketball championship game in Chania. There where at closed of Kladisos Chania BC welcomed OACH.
The roof of the closed one began to drip water in great quantity. This was falling on the floor and understandably there was a serious safety issue for the athletes. Thus the decision was made to stop the match for good.
The home team’s announcement reads:
“And while the game for the children’s Chania BC-OACH was in progress 2.21 minutes before the end of the 3rd quarter and while OACH was leading 32-39 suddenly it started raining inside and outside the field!
Unfortunately, while the problem has been known to everyone for years, a solution has not yet been found.
The photos do not honor any of us here in Chania! Otherwise, we are proud to have the 2nd best stadium in Crete (after 2 Aorakia in Heraklion).
And of course the referees stopped the match due to the unsuitability and danger of the playing field…
