Deal Completed: £90million striker has just completed his £100million mega move to Manchester United as the Reds planned to announce the transfer today

Manchester United continue to work on bolstering their squad ahead of the new season.

Ruben Amorim is planning a major overhaul at Old Trafford, with several high-profile departures expected and a number of new signings lined up.

Man United have already signed Matheus Cunha from Wolves, and the Red Devils are also close to signing Bryan Mbeumo.

However, Manchester United continue to be linked with another striker, a player who is also said to be attracting interest from Newcastle.

Manchester United eyeing move for Dominic Calvert-Lewin

The player in question is former Everton star Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who is now a free agent after his contract with the Merseyside club expired in June.

The Toffees wanted him to stay, but Calvert-Lewin decided to leave to start a new chapter in his career.

According to the latest from The Sun, Manchester United are now plotting a move to bring the experienced Premier League striker to their team.

The report claims United have already made contact with Calvert-Lewin to discuss the possibility of a surprise free transfer.

It is further suggested that with several attackers expected to leave this summer, United could soon have room for a new striker, ideally someone who offers quality up front while also being content with a squad role. Calvert-Lewin is said to fit that profile.

Newcastle also keen on signing Dominic Calvert-Lewin

Manchester United will face competition in securing his signature, with Newcastle also interested in signing Calvert-Lewin, as previously reported by TBR Football.

It is said that the Magpies are firmly in the conversation, with manager Eddie Howe a big admirer of the player. TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey while reporting Newcastle’s interest, said:

“We do know Eddie Howe loves him. We know Eddie Howe likes him an awful lot. I wouldn’t be surprised if we see a backup to Isak signed.

“We talk about Calvert-Lewin, I think might be one of two strikers going in there but he’ll be a third choice. It might be a pay-as-you-play sort of thing.

“I think Calvert-Lewin might be Newcastle-bound. I know Howe loves him. Depends on what sort of deal he’s willing to take. If he’s not willing to take a deal, there is interest in Major League Soccer.

Calvert-Lewin has been ‘fantastic‘ for Everton since joining in 2016, making 273 appearances and registering 71 goals and 22 assists across all competitions. In the Premier League, he has scored 57 goals and provided 18 assists.
