L’Equipe in France claim that Arsenal have now joined the pursuit of Monaco winger Maghnes Akliouche, valued at £60 million.
The Frenchman had a fine 2024/25 season, registering seven goals and 12 assists from 43 appearances on the right wing.
Arsenal unlikely to pursue deal for Akliouche
The 23-year-old had an impressive campaign with the Ligue 1 outfit. He made four goal contributions from 10 outings in the Champions League.
Akliouche did not score or assist against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium, but he caught the eye with his precise distribution and decision-making.
He had a passing accuracy of 91 percent and completed 100 percent of his long balls, with six duels won. The winger managed one attempt on goal.
Arsenal will have monitored his performance, but we are not convinced that the club will make a huge outlay of £60m to prise him away from Monaco.
Akliouche is primarily a right-sided winger. Arsenal’s primary objective should be to strengthen the left wing. The Gunners are playing the waiting game for Real Madrid’s Rodrygo.
Arsenal are reluctant to pay Madrid’s £77m asking price for the Brazilian and are hoping the valuation will come down if Rodrygo’s minutes are limited under manager Xabi Alonso.
Aside from a marquee striker and left winger, the Gunners are eyeing a versatile playmaker. Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze is presently at the top of the club’s shortlist.
We would be surprised if Arsenal go forward and sign Akliouche unless manager Mikel Arteta has requested another backup behind Bukayo Saka.
