Manchester United are struggling to reach an agreement with Brentford for Bryan Mbeumo.
The Red Devils have already tabled two formal bids, both of which were swiftly rejected by the West London outfit.
United’s second proposal was worth £55 million and £7.5m in add-ons.
The Guardian have now revealed that Brentford have “changed their stance”, raising their valuation to closer to £70m.
Ratcliffe and Jason Wilcox believed a £65m package would seal the deal, and Brentford had also “privately indicated that a medical was expected imminently”.
The United duo do not wish to be held to ransom and are determined to be patient.
Mbeumo’s current contract expires next summer, but the Bees have an option to trigger a one-year extension.
