DEAL SIGNED: Manchester United snubbed Liam Delap’s transfer, signed £89m alternative instead as the superstar bids emotional farewell

Manchester United are eyeing a move to sign Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze this summer alongside Liam Delap, according to ESPN journalist Rob Dawson.

The Red Devils are expected to have a busy summer transfer window with plenty of outgoings and incomings, following the worst season in the club’s modern history after they finished 15th in the Premier League and were also beaten in the Europa League final to miss out on European football entirely for next season.

But the club are desperate to strengthen Ruben Amorim’s squad after deciding to stick by the Portuguese manager, and Eze has now emerged as someone the club are keen on signing.

Man Utd Want to Sign Eze

Playmaker has a release clause in his Palace contract

With a deal to sign Wolves star Matheus Cunha all but complete already, the club are also looking to secure the services of Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap – with ESPN reporting that a deal has been agreed between the clubs and Man Utd are just waiting on a final decision from the player.

But United aren’t done there with their hopes of strengthening the attack and a move for Eze is being considered, with the England international having a release clause in excess of £60m in his contract at Selhurst Park.

It was reported by The Athletic last week that Amorim has already told Alejandro Garnacho to find a new club for next season following his latest public outburst, while the expectation is that all of Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Antony will leave the club permanently.

That makes adding to the attack a priority during the transfer window, with questions also remaining over the future of Rasmus Hojlund as the starting striker, while GMS sources understand Bruno Fernandes has an offer worth £65m per season on the table from Saudi Arabia that will expire this week.

Eze, who has been described as a “superstar” for his performances this season, is expected to leave Crystal Palace this summer after helping the club reach the Europa League for next season after scoring in the FA Cup final win over Man City.
