Paris: Defending champion Novak Djokovic has withdrawn from next week’s Paris Masters tennis tournament. The 37-year-old player took part in the ‘Six Kings Slam’ exhibition tournament last week. The organizers have not given any reason for Djokovic’s withdrawal.
The Serbian, who has topped the rankings for the longest time, said in an Instagram post, ‘I am sorry for all the people who wanted to see me play there. I have many good memories while winning seven titles there and hope to come back next year.
Djokovic has won a record seven titles at the Paris indoor tournament. His decision not to play could deal a blow to his chances of qualifying for the year-end ATP Finals. The top eight players will be included in this.
24-time Grand Slam champion Djokovic is currently in sixth place in the ATP Finals race. Jannik Sinner, Carlos Alcaraz, Alexander Zverev and Daniil Medvedev have already qualified for the event to be held from November 10 to 17.
