HERE WE GO: £90million winger is currently undergoing medical to join Arsenal after Gunners agreed his eye-watering transfer fee

Arsenal have reached an agreement to sign Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres in a total package worth €73.5m (£63.75m), according to Spanish newspaper AS.

The Gunners are now edging closer to finally getting the deal for the Sweden international over the line, as Gyokeres will travel to London on Friday to undergo his medical.

The 26-year-old striker will sign a five-year contract with Arsenal and earn a net salary of around €8m (£7m) per year.

Gyokeres is set to become Arsenal’s sixth signing of the summer transfer window – and a ‘major signing’ for Andrea Berta – alongside Kepa, Martin Zubimendi, Christian Norgaard, Noni Madueke and Cristhian Mosquera.

Arsenal are set to pay a fixed fee of €63.5m and a further €10m in easily achievable bonuses for Gyokeres, following lengthy negotiations with Sporting over the structure of the deal.

Gyokeres has blossomed into one of the best strikers in Europe during his two years in the Portuguese capital, scoring a staggering 97 goals in 102 appearances across all competitions.

He led Sporting to a league and cup double last season and scored 54 goals, including six in eight games in his debut Champions League campaign.

Arsenal are likely to target further reinforcements to Arteta’s attacking options next, with Crystal Palace ace Eberechi Eze high on their shortlist.

The Gunners are expected to approach Palace in the coming days to discuss a deal for the England international, who has indicated he would be keen on the move.

Personal terms are not expected to be an issue should Arsenal decide to proceed with Eze’s pursuit, while the North London club also remain hopeful of agreeing a fee below his reported £68m release clause.
