Done Deal: Arsenal completes first summer transfer signing as striker completes medical to join the Gunners on Six-years deal- deal has been signed and announcement will be made today

Arsenal are determined to sign a marquee striker during the summer transfer window.

The Gunners finished 10 points behind champions Liverpool in the Premier League last season.

Manager Mikel Arteta will want to close the gap. An elite striker appears an absolute necessity.

Arsenal recently started negotiations with RB Leipzig regarding Benjamin Sesko.

The feeling around a possible deal remains ‘very positive’, according to journalist Florian Plettenberg. The ‘next round of talks’ are already scheduled with Arteta keen on signing the striker.

Leipzig are waiting for an official offer from the Gunners for the 22-year-old. The Bundesliga outfit are reportedly looking for between £67-84 million for their prized asset.

Arsenal prioritising deal for Sesko
The Slovenian ace had a productive 2024/25 season at Leipzig, scoring 21 goals and providing six assists.

Despite this, the Bundesliga outfit did not qualify for any European competition. Leipzig may want to recoup losses with a big-money departure.

Sesko seems the most likely candidate to depart. Arsenal are presently in negotiations and will be aiming to finalise a long-term payment plan.

The Gunners have identified him as their priority striker target. The club could turn attention to Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyokeres if a deal does not materialise.

Sesko has yet to become a complete striker, but he has immense potential. He has only just turned 22 and has the room to develop into a frequent goalscorer.

He would provide an upgrade on Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus with his immense pace and superb shooting skills. He generates plenty of power with his shots.

Sesko still needs to improve with his ball control, but he would be a good signing with a view to long-term success. Arsenal need to be proactive in securing a quick deal.

They would not want to drag discussions for several weeks. This could allow other potential suitors, such as Manchester United, to consider hijacking the transfer.
