“My life has been on track ever since I left Man United and I’m advising him to do the same and save his beautiful career because he’s even better than me but the club is kill!ng him”: Nottingham Forest winger Anthony Elanga has advised ONE Man United’s player to leave the club immediately and save his career

Nottingham Forest winger Anthony Elanga admitted he backed himself to end his brilliant run with a goal after scoring the winner against Manchester United at the City Ground on Tuesday night.

The Swedish international came back to haunt his former club just five minutes into the clash on the banks of the Trent, scoring the winner to seal a 1-0 victory for the top four hopefuls.

Following a United corner, Elanga collected possession inside his own half and carried the ball 85 metres up the pitch before firing a low drive past Andre Onana from just inside the penalty area, despite the best efforts of Alejandro Garnacho, Patrick Dorgu and Noussair Mazraoui to stop him.

It marked his sixth Premier League goal of the season and it was enough to ensure Forest further boosted their hopes of qualifying for next season’s Champions League.

Asked if was surprised how far he was allowed to run, Elanga told TNT Sports: “Not really, I just saw the space and I believe I am one of fastest players in the league, so if I am, I’m going to back that.

“I have to show that on the pitch and that is what I did for my goal.”

Carrying the ball so far was one thing, but to apply the finish at the end of it made it all worthwhile. His shooting ability is something he has been keen to improve.

“I think the finish is something I have been trying to work on,” Elanga continued. “You can run as fast as that but you have got to be calm when it comes to the other side of the goal.

“If it is left foot or right foot, I feel like I am quite comfortable on both feet.”

He added: “All you want to do is just keep on improving and I feel like coming here it has been about playing and developing every single day.

“I know I’m not the finished article; I feel like I can improve in each and every area of my game. I appreciate Manchester United so much because I learnt a lot there and I took another step here to learn a different type of football as well.

“I am enjoying my football, I just want to keep going, keep learning and keep on improving.”
