DONE DEAL: Manchester United completes another transfer deal after Matheus Cunha’s deal as another two players close to join

Manchester United are set to undergo a summer of rebuilding where they will have to find a way to build a squad that is ready to be competitive at the highest level.

Ruben Amorim has already started working towards reinforcing the squad and the club have announced their first signing – Mathus Cunha from Wolves.

The Brazilian attacker has been brilliant for Wolves this season. Cunha has emerged as the fulcrum of the Premier League side, emerging as both a goal-scoring outlet and a creative force. In 36 games across all competitions, he has scored 17 goals and provided six assists.

As per The Telegraph, Man Utd have agreed terms worth £114.5million in fee and wages to sign the 26-year-old attacker.

The transfer fee that they have agreed with Wolves is £62.5m, which is the player’s release clause. Beyond that, they have also agreed a contract worth £200k-per-week, which works out to £52m over the course of five years.

The Red Devils are offering the Brazilian a significant wage to continue his career at Old Trafford. It might be an indirect effect that Man Utd will have to undergo, considering the fact that they don’t have any European football to offer to potential transfer targets.

Cunha fits in perfectly at Man Utd:
Ruben Amorim uses a 3-4-3 system at Man Utd, which involves two attacking midfielders and a number nine. Judging by how Cunha has evolved at Wolves, he would fit in perfectly in one of the two AM roles up front and can also do a job as the number nine if the situation necessitates it.

Cunha has already been at a big club previously, enjoying a stint at Atletico Madrid. However, he was very much on the periphery of Diego Simeone’s plans in Spain.

He made the right move for his career to move to Wolves which he has benefitted from since.

At 26, the Brazilian is at the perfect age to move to Man Utd. He understands his game much better and has evolved into an excellent creator.

One of Man Utd’s biggest issues this season has been their lack of goals and it fits in perfectly that Cunha could help them in this regard.

Moves to Man Utd have always been dream moves for players but the reality has often turned out to be very different in recent years.

With Cunha, Ruben Amorim will hope to change that narrative and bring in a player who could potentially add a lot to the team. It remains to be seen how the Brazilian attacker’s career at Old Trafford plays out in the coming years.
