DONE DEAL: Manchester United completes first summer transfer signing as striker joins on Six-years deal
Manchester United are interested in a summer deal for Manchester City attacking midfielder Jack Grealish, according to the Independent journalist Miguel Delaney.
The journalist claimed so in his ‘Reading the Game’ weekly newsletter on Friday, with the 29-year-old also said to be open to the move.
“They are doubling down on Ruben Amorim, and pressing ahead with transfers for Mateus Cunha and Liam Delap,” Delaney wrote.
“The feeling is they just need to get goals going in again. On that, one rumour is floating around that all parties may be interested in a deal for Manchester City’s Jack Grealish. It’s currently hard to see as anything more than an idea. They can also probably forget a move for Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo unless they make significant sales.”
Grealish joined Man City from Aston Villa in 2021 for £100 million and has made 157 appearances so far, weighing in with 17 goals and 23 assists.
It is not the first time the England international has been linked with a move to the Old Trafford club, with Man United reportedly in the race for him before he joined Man City, and it is unknown whether things are serious this time around.
Grealish is out of favour at the Etihad Stadium club having made 32 appearances across all competitions this term, bagging three goals and five assists.
Man United want to strengthen in attack and the Man City star could be available as it appears he is surplus to requirements, but the Red Devils should avoid signing him as he does not fit into the playing style of their head coach Ruben Amorim.
Grealish is past his prime and will most likely struggle to make any impact at Old Trafford, and they have to do better given their track record of underwhelming recruitment in recent seasons.
They need young and hungry players who are ready and willing to give their all every time on the pitch, and the Man City star does not fit that description.
