DONE DEAL: Manchester United finally completes striker’s signing as the aggressive frontman signed five years transfer deal with the Reds- Squad number revealed

Manchester United have “accelerated talks” for Eintracht Frankfurt’s star striker Hugo Ekitike, according to Foot Mercato.

It is a crucial summer for Manchester United as they look to build on what was, statistically, their worst-ever Premier League season. Such a fact was only made worse when the Red Devils fell to defeat in the Europa League final, confirming that they would not be playing European football next season.

Ruben Amorim showed, particularly on the continent, that his tactics can have a positive impact on his team, but it was clear across the season that the Portuguese would need significant reinforcements this summer. Man United have wasted little time, with Wolves star Matheus Cunha having joined the club on a six-year deal.

It is clear that the Red Devils hope to make further signings for Amorim, with Man United linked with a move for Bryan Mbeumo and others, such as this forward, who has attracted the attention of many with his form across the 2024/25 season.

Man United Like Ekitike

Eintracht star being targeted by many clubs

Foot Mercato have reported that Man United are keen on Hugo Ekitike and that “contacts have been made with Frankfurt.” Ekitike, dubbed an “elite” player, spent the second half of the 2023/24 campaign on loan at Eintracht, joining the club permanently last summer and enjoying a stellar season thereafter, having struggled for first-team football with former club Paris Saint-Germain.

Man United, who have reportedly scouted the striker since he broke through with Reims, seem ready to pursue a deal for Ekitike, who has been linked to multiple clubs this summer. The club are in desperate need of a number nine, with Amorim having utilised Joshua Zirkzee as a number 10 and Rasmus Hojlund having struggled for form.

In Ekitike, the Red Devils would be signing an exceptionally promising talent as they look to improve on a catastrophic campaign.
