Arsenal are “closely following” Porto striker Samu Aghehowa, who could be on the market this summer, according to CaughtOffside.
Mikel Arteta guided Arsenal through another successful season, one that saw them reach the semi-finals of the Champions League and finish second in the Premier League for a third-straight year. It was yet another campaign without silverware, however, something that Arteta will be all too aware of.
For all of the good work Arteta has done with Arsenal, he last won a major trophy when he lifted the 2019 FA Cup. It is clear that the Gunners are already working to make their squad better-primed for winning an honour. Though there is interest from elsewhere, Arsenal remain close to signing midfielder Martin Zubimendi.
It is also well-known that Arsenal are searching for a new striker, with Benjamin Sesko and Viktor Gyokeres both having been linked with a move. Recent reports, though, are suggesting that Arsenal are interested in one of Europe’s most promising forwards.

Striker has impressed with Porto
As per CaughtOffside, Samu Aghehowa is being monitored by a number of Premier League clubs, including Arsenal. The striker moved to Porto last summer from Atletico Madrid, having spent his only season with Diego Simeone’s side on loan at Alaves, and enjoyed a brilliant debut campaign in Portugal.
At just 21 years old, Aghehowa is already a Spanish international and the combination of his current form and potential has attracted the attention of the Gunners, who will almost certainly sign a forward this summer to compete with Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus, the Brazilian having suffered an ACL injury in January.
In Aghehowa, who has been dubbed “unreal,” Arsenal would likely have to pay the striker’s £84 million release clause. Porto would, reportedly, want a fee that is at least between £58 and £63 million and are “in no rush to sell.” Should the Gunners find an agreement for Aghehowa, it would be a statement of intent from the club.
