Double Deals Agreed: Manchester United agree an eye-watering fee to sign two very impressive signings as both players spotted in Manchester ahead of the medical scheduled to hold tomorrow

Manchester United are confident that Kobbie Mainoo wants to rediscover his best form at Old Trafford instead of embarking on a fresh challenge after internal discussions led to indications that he is desperate to succeed in his current surroundings, GIVEMESPORT sources have revealed.

Red Devils head coach Ruben Amorim has wasted no time making adjustments to his squad, having ended the 2024/25 campaign without silverware or European qualification, with Matheus Cunha becoming the first summer acquisition thanks to completing a £62.5million switch from Wolverhampton Wanderers.

An improved bid worth more than £60million has been lodged for Bryan Mbeumo this week, as Manchester United continue attempting to find a compromise with Brentford, but influential figures behind the scenes have also been involved in conversations over Mainoo’s ambitions.

Mainoo Reaffirms Desire to Win Over Amorim

Academy graduate involved in internal discussions at end of season

Manchester United boss Amorim has held positive talks with Mainoo over his future since the end of the campaign, according to GMS sources, with it becoming clear that he is motivated to break into the forefront of his plans instead of agitating for a move during the summer transfer window.

The Red Devils have been determined to hold onto their academy graduate, resulting in them attempting to deter suitors by slapping a £70million price tag on him when the likes of Chelsea were circling midway through the season, and it is increasingly likely that he will not head through the exit door in the coming months.

GMS sources have been informed that Mainoo, whose game time during the 2024/25 campaign was restricted due to injury issues, is aiming to prove he should be part of Amorim’s first-choice central midfield pairing instead of being rotated in an advanced role as Manchester United prepare for their maiden full term under the Portuguese tactician.

The 20-year-old has struggled to fight off competition from the likes of Manuel Ugarte and Casemiro in his preferred position, despite being described as ‘incredible’ by Gary Lineker, but he has set his sights on proving doubters wrong instead of pushing to be given the opportunity to depart.

Although Amorim has not fully defined where he feels Mainoo fits into his system, GMS sources have learned that Manchester United have no interest in entertaining the possibility of offloading him in the remainder of the summer transfer window and he will continue to be included in their plans for the upcoming season.

Red Devils Still Aim to Hand Mainoo New Deal

England international has two years left on current agreement

GMS sources have been told that Manchester United are still planning to reward Mainoo with an improved contract, having seen him flourish since breaking into the first-team picture under Amorim’s predecessor Erik ten Hag, and they will progress discussions accordingly in the coming weeks.

The England international only has two years remaining on his £25,000-per-week deal, leading to the Red Devils being eager to hand him fresh terms after lengthy negotiations as they aim to end interested parties’ hopes of being able to tempt him away from Old Trafford in the remainder of the summer transfer window.

Influential figures at Manchester United are expecting to see a new and improved version of Mainoo in pre-season after he reaffirmed his desire to keep developing with his boyhood club, GMS sources understand, and he is targeting a starting berth in the season opener against Arsenal on August 17.
