“Either Arteta sell him or I leave, he was responsible for our defeat yesterday…He wasted the golden chance”: Man United’s goalkeeper Andre Onana has named ONE player who responsible for Man United’s draw yesterday, threatened to leave because of him

Manchester United secured a 2-2 draw against Everton in their latest Premier League encounter but several players were very poor in the game.

Everton dominated Ruben Amorim’s side in the first half, as Beto scored the opener before Abdoulaye Doucouré netted a second.

Despite showing little improvement after the break, Manchester United found a lifeline when Bruno Fernandes curled in a stunning free-kick, injecting much-needed momentum into the team.

Manuel Ugarte then capitalised on the shift in energy, firing in a well-struck half-volley to level the score, with substitutes Alejandro Garnacho and Chido Obi making an impact.

In the final moments, Everton were awarded a penalty when former United player Ashley Young went down under a challenge from Harry Maguire.

However, after a VAR review, referee Andy Madley was advised to check the pitch-side monitor and ultimately overturned his initial decision, sparing United from defeat.

Onana is making same mistake for United

Several United players produced shameful performances at Goodison Park – particularly in the first half of the game.

Once again, André Onana provided more questions than answers between the sticks and he continues to make the same mistake, which is costing United goals.

Against Spurs last weekend, the Cameroon goalkeeper parried the ball right into the path of James Maddison to score the only goal of the game.

The same thing happened on the weekend, with Onana’s poor parry into the air gifting Doucouré the second goal of the game.

Onana’s blushes were then spared when the exact same thing happened for the last-minute penalty, with a routine stop being pushed back into the danger zone. He was extremely lucky to see the decision overturned.

United fans are sick of Onana mistakes

United fans are beginning to get sick of the 28-year-old making the same mistake, with one supporter labelling his mistakes as “indefensible”.

“Onana has cost us so much recently, it’s becoming indefensible,” one fan wrote on X. “Every single shot he parries back into the path of their attackers. Really, really poor. We got lucky there.”

Another said: “I will keep criticizing Onana until he’s dropped and possibly sold. Once again, he did what he always does every match, a shot from 40 yards out parried to the dangerous areas.”

A third concluded: “By the way, luckiest man on the pitch after that penalty decision is Onana. Why does that tw*t never parry AWAY from the danger area?!”

There have been question marks over the goalkeeper ever since his move to the club in 2023 and he has struggled to consistently answer those.

Ruben Amorim has hinted Alejandro Garnacho could be recalled to the Manchester United starting line up when they host Ipswich in the Premier League in midweek. United are back in action on Wednesday night and will need to show improvement after a dire performance in their 2-2 draw at Goodison Park over the weekend.

Amorim made one change to the starting line up from the defeat to Tottenham Hotspur, with Manuel Ugarte recalled after injury in place of Garnacho. The 20-year-old looked disappointed as he arrived at Goodison Park and it soon transpired he had been dropped from the side.

United were much better when Garnacho was introduced from the bench and the academy graduate had more of an impact on proceedings than the forwards who had started the game instead of him. He will be eager to return to the side against Ipswich and Amorim has already suggested he ‘will be ready’ for the clash.

Why Alejandro Garnacho was on the bench vs Everton

Speaking after the Everton draw, Amorim revealed why Garnacho started the match on bench as he looked to rejuvenate the team and play a side that could cause the opposition as much trouble as possible. “There are some games that are different and we want different things in the same positions,” he said of the Argentine.

“Garnacho will be ready for the next game and it’s good thing to be disappointed. But, like I said, we have a lot of games, in modern football, you don’t have a starting XI, it’s really hard, especially now. We have a squad that we have to rotate and then I imagine the game and then I imagine the characteristics of the players to try to win the game and today the game, I think in a different way to have Garnacho on the bench to change something.”

United have struggled at home more than they have on the road this season and Amorim is eager to record a rare home win and give supporters something to cheer about. Asked about the final trip to Goodison Park, he said: “I think it’s amazing, the fans of Everton are amazing, they are in a good moment, it’s well deserved that David Moyes is the coach to start in the next stadium, it’s really good. But for me, in this moment, every stadium is really difficult, especially ours with our fans supporting all the time! My goal is to just win the next game and to give some happiness to our fans because they deserve it a lot.”
