“Either they sign him or I resign as a Manchester United’s headcoach”: Manchester United’s coach Ruben Amorim has promised to resign if the club fails to sign £116million aggressive striker

Manchester United have ‘stepped up’ talks for Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike and making ‘concrete progress’ on a deal.

That’s according to Foot Mercato, who report that discussions with Manchester United have intensified over the past two days with the striker’s entourage.

They state that contact has also been made with Frankfurt, putting Manchester United ahead of Chelsea and Liverpool who ‘remain in the starting blocks’.

Ekitike has been heavily linked with a move this summer after another impressive season for the Bundesliga club. The 22-year-old is very much in the Premier League’s sights, where several clubs have shown an interest in him.

Manchester United are one of them. In fact, they’ve been watching him since he was at Stade Reims according to FM. Now they’ve taken concrete steps to secure his signature.

Discussions with his agent have accelerated over the last two days and Manchester United appear to go on the offensive for him. They have reportedly shown a ‘real interest’ in making the transfer happen.

That extends to also contacting Eintracht Frankfurt to inquire about their asking price. That’s further proof of their seriousness in the matter.

Whether a move actually happens, remains to be seen. There have been numerous reports about Ekitike already this summer without the matter every seriously progressing beyond clubs showing interest.

Manchester United now find themselves in the mix but we’ll hold off getting excited until an official offer is made.
